Student Government is Ready for Spring Semester

The Rochester College Student Government is ready to make the spring semester positive and memorable.

Student Government spent Saturday, Jan. 14th, planning out the spring semester events and community services projects. President Elliott Kern, senior, says, “I expect that the Executives will continue to strive to raise the bar for what RC needs as a community. We will be working to improve the aspects of RC that will make this a better place.” Among the events that Student Government is planning are a Health Fair and the Annual Emmy Awards, which is pictured below.

Student Government helps make meals for the needy every third Wednesday of the month at the Rochester church of Christ. “We believe that service is one of the most important things we do. I think it blesses us more than it does those in need,” says vice president of activities, Katy Bodine, junior. Student Government will also be making Valentine cards in the Student Center Feb. 6-10th that will be taken to various organizations for those in need.

“Student Government isn’t just about events and community service, though they are both very important,” says vice president of public relations Kayce McClure, junior, “We are the voice of the students. We write proposals to various departments at RC that help make being a student at RC a more positive experience. ” Student Government wants to hear about the good and bad experiences students have had at RC. “The more we hear from the students, the more we can make a difference.”
