Movie Review: The Rise of The Planet of The Apes

The Rise of The Planet of The Apes had an involved story line and stunning visual graphics. It is based on the 1968 movie, Planet of the Apes, but has it’s own original story and plot. The movie tells the story of an abnormally intelligent ape, the result of an experimental alzheimer’s cure, who then spreads the drug to other apes and leads them to freedom.

The movie has a good storyline and plot, and the visual graphics are amazing. They were done by Weta Digital, the same company that did the visual effects for the Lord of the Rings series and Avatar. They have certainly lived up to their reputation in this movie.

While the visual effects may be very well done, the character development of two main characters seems a bit unnatural. Namely that of Will Rodman (James Franco) and Steven Jacobs (David Oyelowo). The personalities of these two characters seem to suddenly switch.

However, if you can get over that, if you are interested in visual graphics, or were a fan of the original series, Rise of the Planet of the Apes may be worth seeing.
